Welcome Message
From
Dr. Kim Solez:
It is a great
pleasure to welcome you to this 10th Banff
Conference on Allograft Pathology to be held at
the Rimrock Resort Hotel Aug. 9-14th, 2009. I
acknowledge with considerable pride and
gratitude all the splendid help we have received
from so many people over the years that have
made these conferences possible.
It is very nice to
see all the progress we have made in the last 18
years since this process in generating consensus
and moving classifications forward began in 1991. Each
conference seems to accomplish more and be
better than the last so we look forward with
great anticipation to this 2009 meeting.
We invite
professionals with an interest in all the
various aspects of transplant pathology to
attend and participate in the meeting, including
nephrologists, transplant surgeons, transplant
pathologists, clinicians and basic scientists
working in transplantation and other associated
trainees, as well as those in associated
industries and agencies. We are making a
special effort to attract young people and
delegates from developing countries.
Toward the end of
the conference midday on August 14th we will
move briefly to the Banff Centre for Conferences
and the Trans-Canada Pipeline Pavilion where
these conferences began in 1991 to celebrate
"the way we were", where we have been, where we
are now, and where we are going. As our plans
exist right now we will not be back in Banff
until 2017 (2011 will be in Paris, and the 2013
meeting will likely be in Mexico or Brazil, and
2015 in Sweden), so it will be good for you to
savour the ambiance of Banff while you are here!
