EnhancementsISN LIBRARY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM
This program was launched in early 1992 to assist our colleagues at medical schools and hospitals in less fortunate situations to upgrade their libraries with books and journals pertinent to their particular specialties. While our focus has been on nephrology, we have had the opportunity to provide materials for other disciplines as well.
This venture is made possible through the generosity of a number of publishers who have agreed to provide these books and journals free of charge. The list of contributing publishers is growing, thus enabling the Library Enhancement Program to benefit an increasingly large number of libraries located in remote areas.
We have received a tremendous response from the recipients in the form of numerous letters thanking us for this program as well as requests from other institutions for similar support. I believe that even with limited funds we can favorably influence the quality of the practice of medicine and especially nephrology in these less fortunate countries.
